Snugly sheltered in a darkness that encases him, the unborn birdie snores and sleeps until the greatest urge in his life wakens him. Blinking harshly against the first real challenge of his life, his little body twists. Instinctively, as strength finds his yet-to-be-feathered wings, the little birdie stretches against the confines of his shell. Maybe by accident or design, his beak hits the wall of life's resistance. A crack is formed, and the world is introduced to Bitsy.

The Itsy and Bitsy Birdie Book is a snippet of life using spunky, colorful, and sometimes mischievous characters. The central players, Itsy and Bitsy are believably embraced by children, who by their nature grasp more easily the conflicts of the world, seen through innocence cloaked in imagination.
