However, most reserach in this area has hitherto concentrated on the widowed, and much less on the consequences for other family members.
This book reflects the results of the Leiden Bereavement Study, which makes an elaborate comparison between the consequences of death of a spouse, a child, a sibling, or a parent, while taking into account the cause of death. Here, next to this comparison, some answers are provided to important questions, like: 'Which early symptoms indicate future problems in adaptation? and 'Which bereaved are vulnerable to long-lasting health problems and social dysfunction?'. |
