German Code of Criminal Procedure (StPO) which has been in force since 2000 is still appropriate in the digital age. The dissertation focuses on the implementation of legal requirements when using the Internet, including social networks, for public manhunt in practice. Legal bases of police law in the federal states are also analyzed. The thesis depicts the current state of knowledge and practice as well as reveals the need for legislative amendments.
