After his assassination in 1252, Peter of Verona was rapidly proclaimed a martyr, and his Vita testifies to the far-reaching extension of his cult, spreading out from Italy and Southern France to reach western Iberia and Ireland, as is attested by the miracles attributed to his intercession.
