In the first chapter, Jan Lambooy and Egbert Wever make some critical notes on Dutch spatial economic policy. In their chapter, called Locations and the competition for space: Spatial Economic Policy in the Netherlands, they pay attention to
aspects like: the shift from regional to spatial policy, the impact of the new spatial policy the one-sidedness of the new policy. In the second chapter, Hans de Groene and Jeroen Heijs deal with recent developments in spatial economic policy in the Netherlands. In fact, present the backgrounds and contents of the latest policy note of the Ministry of Econ Affairs in the Netherlands. The next chapter focuses on Spatial Economic Policy in Belgium. Georges Allaert not only presents the outlines of Belgian spatial policy, but also pays attention to the spatial policy instruments and the different approaches in both Flanders and Wallonia. In the final section, three major trends are emphasised: enterprise movement, the dynamics of economic decisionmaking, and economic production power and quality of space. In the final section, some conclusions are presented. |
