The plates were engraved by Wandelaar, Goeree and Broen.Hadrianus Relandus (Adriaan Reland, De Rijp 1676 - Utrecht 1718) was a professor of Oriental Languages, cartographer and neolatin poet. His book \"De religione Mohammedica\" (Of the Mahometan Religion), marks him as an important representative of the Enlightenment. Although Reland never left the Netherlands, he drew maps of Palestine, Persia and Japan. His maps of Palestina were seen as the best of his time. Relandus was also the first theologian to stress the importance of Jewish antiquities like coins and inscriptions as sources for Biblical archeology. *Cox I, 220.
