Second edition in French of Swift's Tale of a Tub, translated by Justus van Effen, and based upon a 1720 English edition printed in Holland. The second volume contains translations of The Battle of the Books, A Meditation upon a Broomstick, several Bickerstaffe satires. The third volume, which appeared in 1733, contains the political pamphlet A Discourse on the Contests and Dissentions in Athens and Rome, The Art of Political Lying and Peri Bathous, or the art of sinking in poetry.
