= Photo-archive that is especially captivating because of its emphasis on everyday-life and common Indonesian people and not being related to specific events, people, or disasters. The photographs show excellent craftsmanship and involvement of the photographers. Only a few photographs are dated (we read 1957, 1965, 1967, 1963), but most photos seem to be of the period 1960-1970 - a period when the Dutch were not particularly appreciated in Indonesia and when the Dutch sentiment was generally not at all-in favour of the Indonesian people who had just gained their independance from the Dutch (1960). It seems that the Netherlands lost their interest in Indonesia with the transfer of sovereignty of Indonesia. Only recently has there been more recognition for Indonesia's position at the time and is there a beginning of a consciousness of guilt in The Netherlands. For this reason, this fairly extensive professional photo archive with a picture of Indonesia and Indonesians that is little known in the Netherlands is of great historical importance. Some further names of photographers include C.H. Steenwinkel, Peter Jesse, Marcel Minnée, Jaco Klamer and Ben Kool. Some of the islands visited are Java, Sulawesi, Sumba, Timor, Ambon, Sumatra.
