Anarchism Today is a collection of studies by eleven scholars from different countries. It was first published as a special issue of the journal Government and Opposition, and it contains three supplementary essays. The central theme is the question whether the powerful and original New Left movements in the world derive from the basic doctrines of anarchism, from Proudhon, Blanqui, Bakunin, Kropotkin and Stirner. Contributors discuss the question of the respective back-grounds of the national New Left movements in the U.S.A., Japan, France, Britain, Holland, India, Argentina and Uruguay, and traditional anarchism in Spain. The ultimate comparative conclusions are drawn from these parallel analyses. Similarities and dissimilarities between all these national movements and doctrines in the respective countries are discussed David E.
