39 postcards were published in 1977 as Artists' Postcards Series I. The original artworks were exhibited at the Drawing Center in New York City in 1977, and then traveled nationally under the auspices of the Smithsonian Institution from 1978 to 1980. Artists' Postcards was a nonprofit organization established by the J. M. Kaplan Fund in New York in 1977. Artists were commissioned to create original works in the precise dimensions of 4 x 6 inches (102 x 153mm). The quality of printing and the diversity of papers, selected to best suit the original artworks, was outstanding. --- The set on offer is NOT COMPLETE and counts 34 items . 5 postcards are missing from artists : John Cage, William Copley, Jim Dine, Robert Morris and Robert Wilson. The 34 postcards are unused and in mint condition. They are contained in a light cardboard folder
