Report on the Work of the Horn Scientific Expedition to Central Australia is a detailed account of an important early 20th-century scientific expedition to the Australian outback, led by William Austin Horn and Baldwin Spencer in 1894. The report covers a wide range of topics, including the geography, geology, flora, and fauna of the region, as well as the social and cultural practices of the indigenous peoples: travelling 3000 km of largely uncharted country from Oodnadatta through the Finke River basin to Alice Springs and the Macdonnell Ranges in the Northern Territory. It is a fascinating snapshot of a remote and little-known part of the world, an important document of the early days of scientific exploration in Australia, and a landmark in anthropological history because it resulted in Baldwin Spencer meeting Frank Gillen' (Mulvaney).

Condition: all 4 volumes are very fine with clean text and plates, no internal damages, all maps intact,
and with strong bindings - only a few discolouration spots on first and last pages, and 1 loose
page in Volume II.
