A Tale of Two Cities is a novel by Charles Dickens, set in London and Paris before and during the French Revolution. The novel ends with the famous lines, It is a far, far better thing that I do, than I have ever done; it is a far, far better rest that I go to than I have ever known, spoken by Sydney as he faces the guillotine.

A Tale of Two Cities is considered one of Dickens' greatest works and has been adapted into numerous films, television series, and stage productions. It is a powerful commentary on the human condition and remains a timeless classic.
