Nikolai Khardzhiev (1903-96) is a legendary figure in the history of the Russian avant-garde. An outstanding and authoritative researcher, he was personally acquinted with many of the artists, poets, writers and philosophers. Nikolai Khardzhiev was also the first biographer of Vladimir Maiakovsky and Kazimir Malevich. His personal archives included works of art, manuscripts, Khardzhiev's own correspondence with many artists, exhibition catalogues and other priceless information on the Russian avant-garde.
