De vergankelijkheid van schoonheid en rijkdom, de vluchtigheid van de menselijke verlangens en driften is een thema dat zowat haaks staat op wat de meeste media ons vandaag voorschotelen. Moons gebruikt de hedendaagse media om hen op een elegante manier te ondermijnen. In die zin koppelt hij esthetiek aan subversiviteit.
