Primarily a bomber, it was also used as a submarine hunter-killer, torpedo-strike weapon, reconnaisance aircraft, freight-wagon and supply-dropper, VIP transporter, all-round trainer, ambulance and general communications hack.\nMany crewmembers owe their lives to the Wimpy's ability to absorb a frightening amount of battle damage. It was one of the last of the RAF's \"cloth-bombers\" - of metal construction and fabric skinning - and probably the best.
