Reproductions of the significant Art Comics by Ad Reinhardt originally produced in the 1950s, but here published on the occasion of the exhibition held in New York from October 2-30, 1976.\nA portfolio edition of satirical cartoons and illustrations by the American abstract painter Ad Reinhardt, jointly published by the galleries Kunsthalle Düsseldorf and Marlborough Rome. Reinhardt, an outspoken figure in the world of abstract art, produced thousands of cartoons throughout his career, often satirizing the art world or championing his socialist politics. Many were generated during his time on staff at Ralph Ingersoll's progressive New York-based tabloid PM where his satirical illustrations granted him a level of celebrity within the world of journalism prior to his recognition as painter. The portfolio comprises a custom enclosure measuring 26 x 18 in.; within this are three additional works, including a booklet entitled \"The Art Comics and Satires of Ad Reinhardt\" with a critical essay by Thomas B. Hess (10 x 8 in.); a portfolio of 23 loose prints titled \"P.M. 1-P.M. 23\" (14 x 11 in.); and an oversize portfolio containing 7 loose plates (26 x 18 in.).
