Text in Japanese and English.\n\nThis catalogue was published as a result of the Echigo-Tsumari Art Triennial 2009. First organised in 2000, the aim of this art festival is to reinvigorate the local community through bringing positive economic effects and strengthening the bonds within local village communities.\n\nIn addition to exhibitions of artworks in the local communities, there were many other events such as the Echigo-Tsumari Art Symposium, various performances by artists, theatre and music concerts.\n\nWith colour plates of artists' works accompanied by brief curatorial notes. The catalogue includes statistics and surveys of the Triennial, media coverage, documentation of the preparatory process, calendar of events and the artist's biographies.
