* Jakob Böhme (Alt Seidenberg/Görlitz 1575 – Görlitz 1624) was a German Protestant mystic, philosopher and theologian. From 1618 onwards Böhme wrote many works. He did not have them published, but distributed them among his friends.Once again he was accused of heresy. On New Year's Day 1624 he published Der Weg zu Christo. Protestant conservatism could not accept his vision and turned against him. Böhme had to leave Görlitz and settled in Dresden. There he spent the last years of his life. He was inspired by alchemical and astrological literature. His works are strongly inspired by the writings of the alchemist Paracelsus [Theophrastus Bombastus von Hohenheim - (1493-1541)], the spiritualist Kaspar Schwenkfeld (1490-1561) and the mystic Valentin Weigel (1533-1588). Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel (1770-1831) found the roots for his philosophy in the works of Böhme. He called him Philosophus Teutonicus. Johann Georg Gichtel (1638-1710) also admired Böhme.
