First edition of the first volume - complete in itself - of this three-volume work on mining and mines in Europe, by G. Jars (1732-1769), French mining and metallurgical specialist, and published posthumously by his brother. This part is on iron and coal mines, iron ore smelting, iron and steel production; while the 2nd part is on gold, silver and other metals and the 3rd on copper, tin and salt mines, and on pottery. Illustrated with 10 engraved folding plates bound at the back, showing mines and smelting furnaces. Pp. 368-402 is \"Jurisprudence et réglements pour les mines de charbon de Pays de Liège, & de la Province de Limbourg\".
