First Brussels edition of this travel account by the French surgeon-naturalist R. Lesson (1794-1849), of a scientific voyage around the world on \"La Coquille\" (1822-1825). Published after the Paris original (1838-9). The author provides information on local customs and morals of the inhabitants of the Pacific, as well as zoology, botany and geography. Illustrated with 4 lithographic frontispieces showing inhabitants of Chili, Australia and the Caroline Islands, and a view of Bora Bora.
