Karl Larsson’s book of verse is a deep and unconventional celebration of literary form. For Larsson, poetry is an expansive medium in which to explore and question the formulation of thought-structures freed from the rules of language. His words shape and occupy their own surroundings in three poems that try to approach an understanding of that space. The poems are presented in parallel with a series of 5 works by Swedish illustrator Ola Jeppsson, in which she tries to trace the edges of an imaginary room through the position of a sweatshirt. Poetical Assumption also contains an appendix of Larsson’s sculptural and installation works that, in his own words, “attempt to occupy space.”
