The bird collections of The Natural History Museum, London, held at Tring, are possibly the largest in the world and are exceptionally rich in in historic material, much of it dating from the days of colonial exploration. As such, they contain many specimens of extinct and endangered birds and information on these forms is frequently requested by ornithologists and conservationist throughout the world. This catalogue was produced to list the Museum’s holdings of the relevant species and subspecies and to make the associated data more widely accessible with the aim to assist in the conservation of living species and their habitat.
