| Meer info | Games People Play is Berne’s 1964 classic about the many ways that we habitually relate to one another through “games.” These aren’t fun, harmless social games, though -- they’re subtle, largely unconscious patterns that harm us and our relationships. Eric Berne says that we are rarely conscious of the games we play. But we keep playing them, even the destructive ones, because we inherit them from childhood. In a way, they are comfortable because they absolve us from confronting unresolved psychological issues and can make some tense interactions easier to resolve. Using examples, games scenarios and models to explain the varieties of games people play, Berne brings his ideas of transactional analysis alive. This is an early Penguin (1968) edition with the classic cover, and in itself is a collectible item. |
