| Meer info | 1848, In 1848, Van der Willigen was appointed professor in mathematics and physics and philosophy at the Athenaeum Illustre in Deventer, an appointment that he accepted with the speech "about nature and aimous research". After the abolition of this Atheneum in 1864, he was appointed curator of the Physian cabinet of Teylers Museum as the successor of the biologist Jacob van Breda. He continued his physical research in Haarlem. To perform the length determination of the second garland, as an alternative unit of the length, a small observatory in the museum garden arose in 1866. |
