This book provides both those opportunities: it reproduces 76 drawings, and drawing may be described as a process of sculpture; and it contains an autobiographical essay by Barbara Hepworth in wich she discusses the way in which landscape has influenced het sculpture, and relates the creative process to landscape and the people who inhabit it. Alan Bowness, critic and lecturer at the Courtauld Institute, University of London, has contributed a scholarly introduction to this important collection, in which he shows the close relationship between the drawings and Barbara Hepworth's sculpture. |
