| Meer info | A rare and fine copy. With sixty engraved views of Great Britain Description of the scenery by Thomas Moule, Esq. All illustrations are from Mr. Westall while the engravings are by a range of known artists. The engravings are protected by tissue paper. Fine copy --------------------------------------------------------- William WESTALL (1781-1850) Born in Hertford, he was the younger brother of Richard, who also became a Member of the Royal Academy. Although he travelled extensively to Australia, China and India, his principal work appeared in Great Britain Illustrated published by Thos.Moule in c.1830. This contained some 121 fine views, which were engraved on steel. A shortened version was also published under the title The Landscape Album, in 1832. It contained 60 views of the original views. Westall contributed to such as Ackermann's Repository and Picturesque Tour of the River Thames. |
