| Meer info | About Inayat Khan Born in 1882 into a family of well-known musicians in Baroda, India, Inayat Khan started travelling at an early age, giving concerts and lectures, From 1903 to 1907 he studied under a Sufi master in Hyderabad during which time he formed an understanding of the brotherhood of man and the concept of unity. Following successful concert tours in the Indian sub-continent, he and his brothers visited America, France and Russia to give concerts and lectures. Music was not the only reason for Inayat Khan’s presence in Europe. His Master had urged him to unite the people of the East and West. With this in mind, he founded the Sufi Movement whilst in London during the years of the First World War. He continued to travel widely throughout Europe and America and established Sufi Centres in twelve countries. In 1926 he returned to India and died in February 1927 in Delhi. |
