The book begins with a description of the State Army (1568-1795). The Batavian and French periods are then reviewed, followed by the military history of the 19th century, the mobilization during 1914-1918 and the fighting in May 1940. Separate chapters are devoted to the history of fortifications in the Netherlands and the East Indies Army. |
