Most books about Abraham Lincoln are non-fiction. Those that are fiction only explored certain quirks about Lincoln, but none explored in-depth the change of Lincoln's thought patterns as he overcame his melancholy and doubts about his self-worth. My inspiration comes from knowing people who have taken the time to develop lives of significance through strong moral values being expressed to others as they live out their lives. Those on the receiving end are often changed by those people in very positive ways. John Davies becomes one of those mentors in Lincoln's life.
