| Meer info | The Selected Scriptures series presented in this catalogue is created by contemporary Chinese artist Hong Hao. It comprises thirty-one prints and is the result of more than ten years work. Presented in the form of printed drawings and texts, these prints can be studied as an imaginary map of Chinese art?s recent evolution, in relation to Chinese history and also to Western influence on Chinese art. Hong Hao mixes past and present, East and West in his work. He works exclusively with language but the words used are not directly linked to the related images. Images and events from different times and places thus are used to show a skewed reality. This amusing book was shown as the last of seven Revelation Series exhibitions held in the Canvas Foundation (The Netherlands) exhibition space in 1999. Artist?s biography is included. |
