| Meer info | At the crossroads of letters and literary ?Mirrors? in both Latin and the Western vernaculars, the volume collects papers from a colloquium held in 2014 at the University of Paris III (Sorbonne Nouvelle). The questions raised concern both literature and history, and philosophy and ethics, and explore the specific generic features of letters-as-mirrors and their assorted objects and means. The contributions here range across five basic themes, conceived as connective frameworks rather than as strict divisions: ?The Letter as mirror of the Bible,? ?The Letter as mirror of the self and other,? ?The Letter, mirror of the world,? ?Letters within mirrors,? and ?The Letter as poetic mirror.? The implicated approaches underscore the richness and variety of the practice of letters-as-mirrors, much favoured by missive writers in Late Antiquity and the Middle Ages. They stand out no less by their role in modern thinking and as invitations to reflection. A la croisee du domaine epistolaire et de celui du Miroir, entre monde latin et univers vernaculaire en Occident, du ve au xve siecles, cet ouvrage collectif ? ne d?un colloque organise a la Sorbonne Nouvelle en 2014 ? gouverne par des interrogations qui relevent tout autant de la litterature que de l?histoire, voire de la philosophie, entend explorer les donnees generiques de la lettre-miroir et la diversite de ses enjeux.
