It was produced around 1400 in the southern Netherlands. Its iconographic cycle is very similar to that of other 13th-century English Apocalypses ? also told in images. The illustrations in the codex are not only abundant, but also appealing in their colour, freshness and dynamism. Moreover, the narrative eloquence is such that it inevitably refers to the iconographic tradition of picture books and their entertaining nature. |
