| Meer info | This volume brings together the critical editions of the works composed by Ramon Llull in Paris in 1299. During this period, Llull engaged more closely with the university milieu and had the opportunity to devote particular attention to Euclidean geometry. He authored two geometric treatises: De quadratura et triangulatura circuli sive De principiis theologiae (op. 82) and Liber de geometria nova et compendiosa (op. 84). These texts are linked to the artistic work Brevis practica Tabulae generalis seu Ars compendiosa (op. 80), also written in the same year. This latter work builds upon the Tabula generalis (op. 53) and represents a version of the Ars that would serve as a reference for all subsequent works leading up to the Ars generalis ultima (op. 128). In 1299, Llull also composed the Ars electionis (op. 83), preserved in the manuscript Bernkastel-Kues, St. Nikolaus-Hospital, ms. 83, formerly belonging to Nicholas of Cusa, and the Liber super quaestiones Magistri Thomae Attrebatensis (op. 85), which addresses questions of natural philosophy alongside theological concerns. Finally, the volume includes the edition of the Quaestio de congruo adducto ad necessariam rationem (op. 81). Although apocryphal, this work has been edited as evidence of the reception and application of Llull?s argumentative style within the theological discourse of his time. |
