| Meer info | = Beautiful colour plate work by Melchers employing his style of Japonisme and Art Nouveau to depict the seasons in Belgium/ The Netherlands. Melchers was a pupil of Jan Toorop, who was also influenced by Japonism. One of a thousand copies of the regular edition on wove paper, from an edition of 1070 copies in all. Contains 12 of the 16 full-colour illustrations of Belgian-Dutch scenes by Franz Melchers to accompany Braun's cycle of poems about the changing seasons. Bookblock stapled (originally thread-bound) and lacking plates janvier (January), printemps (Spring), mai (May), juin (June). Illustrated title some stains/ fingersoiling almost exclusively in blank margins, if not for the lower inner corner; final leaf (December illustration) frayed in outer blank margin. |
