"Fougasse" was the pen name of Cyril Kenneth Bird (1887-1965), a British cartoonist who was perhaps best known for his work in Punch magazine (of which he served as editor from 1949 to 1953) and his World War II warning propaganda posters; "Careless talk costs lives" was one of the most popular. He also designed many posters for the London Underground. With an introduction by A.A. Milne, this is an early collection of some of his cartoons, many of which had previously appeared in the pages of Punch, London Opinion, The Tatler, The Evening News.and other papers alike. |
