Faithful among the faithful, he followed Napoleon to Saint Helena. He left Longwood in 1818 and, exiled, settled in England, from where he defended Napoleon's cause. Expelled by the English, he returned to France in 1821. His "Journal" stands alongside the "Mémorial" or Montholon's account. |
