| Meer info | = In very good condition. Comes from an old woodblock collection. This block was used for printing the engraved title of "A Notable and Very Excellente Woorke", written by Jan Ympyn Christoffels (1485-1540) and printed by Richard Grafton in London in 1547. This was the earliest earliest book printed in English on double-entry bookkeeping which has survived, albeit only partially - only the first 37 pages have survived (Kress Library, Harvard). It was translated by Christoffels from Italian into Dutch, from Dutch into French, and finally from French into English; it originates from an Italian manuscript by one Giovanni Paolo di Bianchi. This was never published and has never been traced. |
