Zobeltitz' and some old notes on the endpapers. Naughty biography of 'my aunt's chicken', that is, a beautiful girl, in which the clergy are strongly censured. Cohen (Guide de l'amateur de livres à gravures du XVIIIe siècle, 6th ed., 1912) col. 523-524. Fedor von Zobeltitz, a German author and great book collector (1857-1934), had his first book collection auctioned in 1910 by auctioneer friend Martin Breslauer. His second one was purchased by the German Reich in 1921 and donated to the city of Leuven as a reparation payment for the library destroyed by the Germans in 1914. |
