| Meer info | Worcester, Stanbrook Abbey Press, 1968. Quarter bound in light blue Liberty silk and Japanese wood veneer paper. Set from the Cancellaresca Bastarda and printed in burgundy, blue, gold and black on paper handmade by W.S. Hodgkinson & Son in 350 numbered copies. With three hand-drawn calligraphed initials, the first two by Margaret Adams. 1st edition. Fine copy with prospect and a little printed slip mentioning the third initial in the book as being made by another artist. The poet Katherine Kendall (1883-1966) was a violinist. This long poem was intended for her friend, the calligrapher Margaret Adams, who designed the initials. According to the erratum, this is one of 100 copies in a special book binding by Weatherby Woolnough of Wellingborough, not bound in the bindery of Stanbrook Abbey, and the last initial was signed by another artist in these one hundred books. Apparently something went wrong during production! |
