With printer's mark on titlepage (In oratione perdurantes Rom. 12.12.) and some lovely decorative initials. And a squished spider on the last page of the preface, just below the word "Amen". Lit: De Bie/Loosjes IV, pp. 2-9. l 3rd edition. Abraham van der Heyden or Heydanus (1597-1678) was minister and professor in Leiden. In 1676 he was laid off as professor because of his Cartesianism (a form of rationalism). The first and second edition of this anti-Remonstrant book were published in 1641. This is the third and last edition. |
