Etching with plate tone on laid paper, made by Hermanus Fock after his own design, c. 1780-1820. Sheet size 249 x 176 mm., platemark 210 x 131 mm. Hermanus Fock (Amsterdam 1766-1822 Amsterdam) was a capable draughtsperson and printmaker. Most of his works are landscapes (some with figures), in the region around Haarlem, Amsterdam, Zandvoort and Velsen. From 1816 to 1821 he was a teacher of drawing in Franeker. In excellent condition, some discolouration in the margins (possibly from previous matting). References: Hippert & Linnig 327: 69. |
