On the first print of the series men and women from Leiden swear fealty to the city (captioned 'Juramentum fidelitatis'). The second print of the series ('Dissidium') shows dissent among the citizens of Leiden. The third print ('Fames') shows famine and sickness during the siege. The fourth and final print shows a large group of kneeling, praying people, giving thanks for the relief of the siege.Engravings on hand laid paper, sheet size 280-290 x 185-190 mm., platemark 260 x 165 mm. Made by Willem de Haen, c. 1612-1614. These prints were used in: J.J. Orlers. Beschrijvinge der stad Leyden (Leiden 1614). In good condition, original middle fold.
