Made by Dirk Hidde Nijland and published in the Houtsnedenummer (Woodcut issue) of the famous periodical Wendingen in 1919 (year 2, nr. 7/8). It was printed by De Volharding and published by De Hooge Brug.Dirk Hidde Nijland (Dordrecht 1881 - 1955 Bloemendaal) was a Dutch artist who was active from c. 1900 to 1950. He was a painter, graphic artist, ceramist and draughtsperson. In 1950 he contracted an eye disease which forced him to stop painting. In good condition, the left edge folded over. A diagonal crease in the right side of the image. Some more creases in the delicate sheet edges. |
