Engraving and stipple work on wove paper, sheet size 251 x 166 mm., platemark 180 x 121 mm. Engraved by Carl Mayer, and published in Meyers Konversationslexicon, c. 1850. Carl Mayer (Nurnberg 1798-1868) was a German engraver, publisher and painter, who produced mainly portraits. He established a graphic printing office in Nurnberg in 1828. In good condition, the top margin fainlty browned, right margin with a fold and original binding holes. Some soiling in the lower margin. The image area clean. |
