"The MAPS method is one of a number of this type of psychological instruments and was developed, in 1947, as a variation of the Thematic Apperception Test principle. It varies the TAT form primarily by separating the figures and the backgrounds, thus permitting (or forcing) the subject to populate test backgrounds with his own selection and placement of test figures before he tells his story. The puirpose of this manuel is to give information about the administration and the use of the MAPS method, the interpretation of responses, and more-or-less typical MAPS method results which are obtained from subjects of several different psychiatric nosological categories.
