| Meer info | Jo Ractliffe works with photo-based media, video and installation. She was born in Cape Town where she completed her masters degree at the Michaelis School of Fine Art. Recipient of the 1999 Vita Art Prize, Ractliffe lives in Johannesburg and lectures at the University of the Witwatersrand. Atkinson's text is intelligent and highly readable with revealing quotes by the artist scattered throughout. The seductive imagery shows the spectrum of Ractliffe s work in beautiful colour reproductions. TAXI is a series of titles on contemporary South African artists, initiated in 2000 by the French Institute of South Africa (IFAS) and Pro Helvetia-Arts Council of Switzerland and published by David Krut Publishing. Based in Johannesburg, TAXI is the only educationally driven publication committed to contemporary South African art and its artists.
