| Meer info | hardcover fotoboek met in het laatste deel tekst, zeer goede staat' Pep Bonet, winner of the 2005 W. Eugene Smith grant announced today, unveils his long term project examining the HIV pandemic in Africa. Specialising in in-depth personal work outside the established editorial market, his challenging photographs illustrate the dramatic impact of antiretroviral (ARV) drug treatment. In association with Médecins Sans Frontières, Bonet has documented treatment programmes in Angola, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Ethiopia, Kenya, South Africa and Zambia. In vivid colour and stark black and white, his images eloquently illustrate how ARV drug treatment can transform the lives of people living with AIDS. They cast a positive, hopeful light on this bleak subject. The exhibition at HOST will be shown simultaneously in Amsterdam, Barcelona and Brussels, coinciding with the launch of Pep Bonet’s book POSITHIV+ and World AIDS Day. ‘Pep Bonet is another talented visionary following in the extraordinary footsteps of Gene Smith. He continues to bring into focus for the public an important part of society we often don't want to see,’ says Helen Marcus, president of the W. Eugene Smith Memorial Fund. Bonet, who is represented by Panos Pictures, was Kodak Young Photographer of the Year 2003. |
