Elisabeth Kapnist directs the documentary 'Jacques Lacan: La Psychanalyse Reinvente' (2001), which sheds light on Lacan's ideas about the decline of patriarchy, the contradictions of love, the illusions of the French Revolution and the logic of madness. 'Lacan Parle' (1972) is a recording of a typically controversial speech by Lacan at the Catholic University of Louvain in September 1972, taking on topics such as psychoanalysis, death, language, love, alienation and paranoia. When his speech is disrupted by a sceptical student, Lacan refuses to allow security to remove him, instead asking him to speak and incorporating his criticisms into his presentation. The talk is followed by a probing interview by Belgian documentarian Francoise Wolff, who also directed the film. |
