| Meer info | "The present volume reports on research on the development and efficacy of a Dutch software program to enhance the language learning of kindergarten children. In part 1, the focus is on multimedia support of children learning Dutch as a second language. In this part, an introduction on multimedia support is presented, and a report is given on pilot studies, a study comparing computer reading to live reading and two inter-vention studies. The first studies show the feasibility of the computer software being developed and its affectiveness in comparison with teacher support. The two intervention studies report on the effects of vocabulary training and phonological awareness training. The second part opens with an overview on the benefits of speech manipulation for children with SLI. In addition, two experimental studies and one intervention study are described. For this group of children, it was found that manipulation of the speech signal may help then in discriminatiing between speech sounds. When implemented in the software program no additional effects of speech manipulation where found." |
