| Meer info | David van Reybrouck David Van Reybrouck (1971) is cultuurhistoricus, archeoloog en schrijver van non-fictie, theater en poëzie. Hij debuteerde in 2001 met De plaag, dat veelvuldig werd bekroond en vertaald. Zijn grootste succes behaalde hij met Congo. Een geschiedenis, waarvoor hij onder andere de Libris Geschiedenisprijs 2010 en de AKO Literatuurprijs 2010 kreeg. Congo is inmiddels in 13 talen vertaald, waaronder het Engels, Chinees, Deens en Frans. Het werd tevens bekroond met de Prix Médicis 2012. Zijn roemruchte essay Pleidooi voor populisme leverde hem de Jan Hanlo Essayprijs 2009 op en de Vlaamse Cultuurprijs Kritiek en Essay 2009. Hij schreef verder de roman Slagschaduw en het pamflet Tegen verkiezingen (2014), dat bekroond werd met de Henriëtte Roland Holstprijs. In 2014 ontving hij de Gouden Ganzenveer.
